2 hour and 15 minute movie onto a DVD?

I have a compilation of clips that end up being over 2 hours. I wish to burn them onto a single layer DVD in iDVD, but I hear that I can't? The file size is way under 4.7 gigs, so it should fit. How can I fix this?
