I have a new macbook with Leopard, the 2Ghz model with 1 gb RAM.

If I want to install windows xp with bootcamp, is this amount RAM adequate?

Plenty. But remember, you can never be too rich or have too much RAM... ;)

Is 1Gb RAM enough for XP? Yes, it will be fine.

There is no minimum for bootcamp... You could probably be fine with 512, but it would feel pretty slow. 1GB is plenty unless you are going to be doing some intensive stuff with it.

512 is generally plenty for XP in most cases

Thanks for the quick replies! Now I just have to find a copy of win xp :p

It's my first mac, and this seems like a great forum - I'll probably be scouring the posts a lot.

BTW, how useful is the telephone apple support for these kind of questions? I tried calling the other day, and gave up after a half hour on hold. Would they be able to answer any and all questions about the fine points of using Leopard and the iLife and iWork apps? For that matter, is the Apple store genius bar a worthwhile place to try to get these kinds of questions answered?
