Partition Problem

So, I had 2 partitions, but have since erased one. Now, it is free space, but won't let me merge the free space into my original partition. In addition, half of my original partition is blue for some reason. Can someone help me resolve the problem. I'm running leopard btw

You should be able to drag the new partition to resize it over the old.

The blue indicates used memory as a percentage.

i should but cant. it ismy main hd does that cause a problem

I was able to turn it into another partition, but I can't merge them. I have no reason for two partitions. I tried to merge them by draggin them over each other, but it won't do anything. Any other ideas?
