Can you make an iphone a pay as you go phone

I was just considering the following.

Say if i were to get a cheap pay as you go phone from att. can i take the sim from that and put it in your iphone and will it work. without hacking just swaping sim cards

if thats possible i might consider that and make it a pay as you go iPhone:D

No, you can't use a non iPhone sim in an iPhone. But you can do pay-as-you-go for an iPhone without hacking. Forum search and Google are your friends...this has been posted about tons.

Yes, you have to jailbreak the iPhone (which some people consider hacking). I don't think pay as you go phone has internet.

Has this method (http://www.tuaw.com/2007/07/02/iphone-prepay-the-right-way/) stopped working? It's jailbreak free. But yes, pay as you go data sucks (http://www.tuaw.com/2007/09/24/prepaid-data-packages-and-the-iphone/) with the iPhone.

all you do is fail the credit check(on purpose) by entering in social security # 999-99-999, then att gives you the pay as you go option. its what i use :)

i bought a 4 gb i phone from a friend with no sim card,cause he needed it for his blackberry. and i bought a go phone 20$ from walmart ,activated it and took out the sim card and put in th i phone and for some reason it worked!
it is not the i touch so i take it it is the old one! i don't know if the phone was hacked but it works! go figure!

Yes because your iPhone is ALREADY activated.

iPhones that are not activated cannot use any sim card unless you
- Activate through iTunes
- Activate through hacks
