I thought the Express Card slot was going to allow external Video Cards - do any exist?

I want to play games on my MBP that, under bootcamp, it just can't handle. I guess there's no hope for any external 3D lovin' is there?

......I really don't think that is possible.... I've never really thought about it, it doesn't make since.

There is no way you would have enough power or speed to power a graphics card with an express34 slot.... GCs are extreme performance hogs that don't even work on a express type system, you need a 16x PCIe card...

the GPU built into macbook pros would be much better than ANYTHING you might be able to achieve with the express slot.

USB video cards exist but non of them that i know of can handle anything 3D. i think is one of the better ones: http://www.everythingusb.com/iogear_usb_2.0_external_video_card_12787.html but it really doesn't play games....

EDIT: i just found this: http://www.belkin.com/highspeeddock/ something to watch...but i don't think it will perform better then the graphics in the macbook pro.....

EDIT2: http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/08/hands-on-with-the-asus-xg-station-external-gpu/ might be something to keep an eye on as well....this thread also talks about the topic http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-249303.html

Airport and the Expresscard slots are both PCI-Express x1 slots.

Quite a ways away from a slow GPU on a PCI-Express x16 slot.

What games won't the MBP handle? It isn't the best card available, but it should be able to run all current games at reasonable settings. Nevertheless, if the 8600M can't handle it, no external graphics solution would be able to handle it either.
