choose which frame of a .mov file is represented by the icon?

Hi friends,

So I have a lot of movie files, but most of them look like the attached photo. Is there a way to somehow scroll through the movie and choose a frame to set as the movie icon, instead of just a black screen? This would be amazing!

I agree 100%. Plus it should be rather simple for Apple to implement.

I'm not sure if this requires quicktime pro or not but just scroll to the frame you want and go to view->set poster frame, then save the file. This seems to work for me.

This takes a little while to save if the file is large and it also changed the extension.

A better way to do this is to scroll to the place you want. Press cmd+c and then on the actual file press cmd+i and at the top where there is the icon next to the name , select the icon and press cmd+v. You may have to restart Finder to see the change reflected.
