Landon Fuller beat Apple to getting Java 6 on the Mac!! (http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/code/macosx/)

Well, actually, he says he got a lot of help from OpenBSD and FreeBSD people, but still he got Java 6 on the Mac!!

Has anyone here actually tried it out? How does it fair with Netbeans 6?

I still hope Apple will officially release something though. It seems like a lot of times Apple waits for someone else to do something before they get moving, e.g. Widgets/Dashboard, Windows on MacTels, etc. etc. So, maybe this is the fire they needed.

Anyway, I think this is great news!!

Getting Java 6 on osx is probably way down on the priority list for Apple. They are too busy figuring out ways to relock unlocked iPhones.

Using X11 for windowing.

By that logic, this guy was "beaten" by the first guy who got Linux and 1.6 installed on Apple hardware.
