Can't get o2 PAYG GPRS/EDGE working?

Hey iPhone-ers!

I've got my iPhone working perfectly.. My only gripe is that I can't get GPRS working on Pay as You Go.

I've entered LOADS of settings, turned roming on (as someone suggested), but still - nothing.

All I get is an ugly white box in the status bar - it never actually establishes a connection.

I don't even want GPRS, I'm only entering the settings as there's no way to turn it off and I don't want to stare at the pointless empty box.

Currently I'm using:

Im not sure about the UK, but here in the US phones can only access Edge with a data plan. As for GRPS most CAN access it and the iPhone will without you knowing. Not sure if you get charges for GRPS there like we do here, but if you get it working be prepared for a rather large bill.
