better question: add a ram stick or get matching sticks?

Have mini with 2x512 in it right now. For about the same price I can get a single 2GB stick (for a total of 2.5GB ram in my computer) or two matched 1gig sticks (for a total of 2GB ram in my computer).
If it is "apple-specific" (ie: not pc/mac/whatever) aftermarket ram, is it going to be particularly beneficial to use the matched sticks? Or should I just go for the highest amount of RAM possible?

I spent days and days googling for a straight answer to this question, and eventually found my way to a guide at this very site:

In short, the majority of the time you will benefit more from having more unmatched RAM than having less matched RAM.
