If I have a Mac Pro but do not have the original install disks, if the drive should ever fail, can I just own my legal copy of Leopard to do a fresh install or does it want something of the install disks that came with the hardware first? I am always surprised when I do a Mac OS X install that it first looks to see if I have what I need to install. What more do I need then a bootable drive?

If you have a retail copy of Leopard you should be fine. It does NOT require the original install discs, or anything like that to install itself.
