iPod touch firmware version?

I have decided to get an iPod Touch 16GB, but it may be a month before I can get all the money together. The 3rd party Apps are a major perk, but there running only on FW version 1.1.1 (as far as I've heard), So I'm wondering what FW version the Touch ships with currently, and about how much time is left before the next update? Will it be possible to downgrade?

I just dont want to miss out on the chance to run Homebrew!

There are plenty of threads in this forum explaining everything... the 1.1.2 iPod touch is cracked, but to crack it you have to restore it to version 1.1.1 before upgrading again to 1.1.2. It's not nearly as complicated as it sounds, but if you look around in the forum you'll find what your looking for.

And the iPod touch's currently shipping ship with 1.1.2.
