I'm the only person who ever uses my Mac, but I always welcome my friends using it. I always enjoy their hushed reaction to OS X, realizing how much better it is than their Windows machines. They'll never admit it, but I can see it as their eyes widen with amazement as they use my G4. For that brief moment, they realize there are other possibilities open to them other than Microsoft.
I am looking forward to the multiple user switching in Panther however, even though I don't really have a use for it. I guess it just annoys me that Windows XP has it and we don't :p.

Fast user switching is one of the top 2* new features that are making Panther a must buy for us. While we have 2 OS X machines, they serve different purposes, so my wife and I are often switching back and forth. She usually stays logged in to the iBook and I use the QuickSilver as my main machine. If either of us needs to do something quick on the other machine, we just use the other person's account that's already logged in. Otherwise you have to ask if it's ok to log them out, which can be a pain. Soon that will be a thing of the past!
(*Exposé is the other one that I keep being reminded how useful it will be as I try to find my desktop from underneath all the windows...)

I'm the user 90+% of the time. I show it off to anyone who gets close, i.e., displaying photos, playing movies or songs, or showing off web sites I have discovered. I made separate logins for each member of my family, but since it's always logged in as me, they just use it that way, i.e., open a web browser window and go look up a movie review or whatever they want. Maybe with Exposé, they'll use their own logins.

I'm the only regular user of my machine... so fast user switching has really no use for me.

I'm the only consistent user, but I do have a friend who's been coming around a lot lately just so he can use my iBook. I think he realises how much better it is than his Windows machine :)
I gave him his own user account so that he can fiddle to his heart's content without me having to worry about resetting any settings he's changed.

I am the only user for any of my computers, but I am still looking forward to it....It will be something fun to show my friends:D

Me, my brother and dad use it. All the one user. When Panther comes out I plan to setup multiple users

i'm the only user, but I think i'll set up different accounts for different purposes. Work, play, private etc.
I have a presentation to give later in Oct. I hope panther arrives in time so I can "fast user switch" then "exposé" around for my keynote presentation, all on the big screen in front of the lecture.
Its for Advanced E Commerce, i think some pcers would be impressed!

Just lil' old me on my Mac. My family have a PC they use for their stuff downstairs (e-mail/web for my dad, games for my bro, my mum hates computers!)

Just me and wifey. Sometimes I have to let out a deadly fart to get her running away, so I can hop on.

My wife and I use my TiBook 667 DVI with OSX, with two different user accounts. You can imagine how important the Fast User Switching functionality of Panther will be to us, as I'm annoyed when I'm working on some music (I'm a producer, compser), and she decides she wants to surf the Net.
That will all change in January, when I get my dual G5, though. Then I'll just give her the TiBook....
...naaahhh! :D

I'm the main user on all 3 of my OSX machines - but at home, my wife sometimes uses them.
I'm still trying to convince her she needs her own mac....but I need to get a G5 first, so I'm not pushing that hard ;)

Don't own a mac.
But if I did 3 people would be using it.

I'm the only person that uses my Mac because my wife has her own. I have the 12" powerbook and she has a flat panel iMac.
Now I use her iMac on occasion to do the iMovie stuff because the iMac has the DVD burner. I wanted the faster CD-RW in my Powerbook.

Recently switched from XP to OS X at home, I really liked fast switching in XP. Let's my wife (mangle) her desktop anyway she likes, and if I move some things around on my desktop I don't get any paniced phone calls. It's not a big deal in OS X now to log out, but fast switching is pretty handy when you get used to it.

My wife and I share the mac at home. I don't have multiple users setup though because my wife wants to just walk up and use the computer. I am hoping fast user switching in panther might make it easier.
At work I manage 22 macs (and 6 pcs - guess which ones take more time to manage?) with two users per machine (one the admin, the other a main user). I can't wait for Panther at work for the fast user switching! If it "switches" half as fast as Steve demo'd I will be in heaven. I should also note that even at half the speed demo'd it would be faster than win XP pro switching - IMHO.

I voted that I don't own a Mac OS X machine. Do own a G4 running 9.2, no one else is using it currently!

Whole family uses it (6 people), with 5 different usernames. Wasn't too much of a hassle getting the iTunes folders to work together, but everyone loved the idea of being able to completely customize their own accounts, I being the most versed about Mac OS X had to worry about making sure permissions were all set correctly.

I have about 5 to 6 people using my mac at different times. They mainly burn CDs and surf the net. They are all PC users and they all say "Damn, this is a cool computer." I have one accout for myself, and a "Guest" account for the PC'ers.
Is user switching slow to you guys, it only takes me about 10 seconds to switch between accounts.

I am the only one who regularly uses my laptop, but I'm awaiting fast user switching because I have a work user and a play user, and as much as I keep them seperate, I often need to switch back and forth because I'm never only work or play. I do also have a guest account that is severely limited (using the simple Finder, with only a few apps available, etc.).

Why does that sound so familiar... :)
One of these days I have to get around to upgrading my desktop machine (beige g3) but I am worried about the 3rd party usb card and relatively small hd. (plus reformatting it from HFS to HFS+)

i have 4, sometimes 5 users. with fast user switching, can multiple accounts be running the same program (ichat)?

that i don't know, and am curious as to the answer. i would think so though. i noticed in earlier betas, the ones i got, (too lazy to download the new ones) that whenever i left an away message, and i came back (from switching finders) i was disconnected from the service. not sure though.
