They are zooming out while trucking the camera forward. This decreases the focal length while keeping the subject in the same position. You can do it with any camera really, but it would probably be hard because you typically don't have good control over zoom with con/prosumer cameras.

thanks, i was kinda thinking that but wasn't entirely sure.

saved me a lot of time of random experimenting!
