Apple's iCal site (http://www.apple.com/ical/) has a missing download button.

but if you click the link where the missing picture is it still works.... must be a server hiccup or something

OR an update to 1.2.... or was it 1.5?

Could mean an update. http://forums.macrumors.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Or just an over site by the sitemaster who is redoing all of apple's site to the new standard. I hope for the update.

It's back, but it now says Feb 1 on the calendar icon. Why did they change this? I have no clue.

It's not back, it's probably still in your cache.

And don't get too excited. It's been missing for over 24 hours. (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39919)

Feb 1, perhaps its the release date of the PB G5 ;)

Hopefully they took down the download button because iCal 1.5 is about to be released.

Actually I think it's your cache. It most definitely is back.

Sorry, but you're most definitely wrong. Try loading the page in other browsers or other computers. The graphic does not load.

Just a broken image link if you ask me. You can still download it just fine. I would get excited if the link and image were gone.

I dunno. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm in Japan, but the image loads fine in two other browsers on my Mac and also on a Winblows machine.

It's weird though... if it were on the Akamai network it could possibly make sense that it doesn't load for you but it loads for me. But, it's on the Apple network... here is the link to the image (http://www.apple.com/ical/images/200302/21download.gif).

You're right, that is weird. Your link to the image does work, but on Apple's page it's not there.

Well, hopefully 1.5 will be released soon and it just won't matter any more!

I'm seeing this image link instead, which doesn't exist:

http://www.apple.com/ical/images/200302/230download.gif

Pretty sure that's the source of the controversy.

21download shows 2/1 so 230download would indictate 2/30, a non-existent date, hence no image.

The iCal page is neat - it usually shows the current date. The script that updates the page with the current URL reference must be broken.

This is a website admin problem, not a product announcement. Send a note to webmaster@apple.com, not MacRumors.

When I view the source of http://www.apple.com/ical, it shows:

<NOSCRIPT><A HREF="download/index.html"><IMG SRC="http://a772.g.akamai.net/7/772/51/b7cef433c87acd/www.apple.com/ical/images/200301/15download.gif" ALT="Download iCal" WIDTH="170" HEIGHT="64" BORDER=0></A></NOSCRIPT>

15download.gif ???

I dunno why that shows up in the source but if you open in a new window it shows a different filename?

Yeah, looks like the script has gone bizzerk and it's loading different pages for different people.

Weird.

15download actually refers to Jan 5 (2003), when iCal 1.0.2 was released. You can actually see the image on the server here. (http://a772.g.akamai.net/7/772/51/b7cef433c87acd/www.apple.com/ical/images/200301/15download.gif)

a picture is missing?
:o
come on. we all know that they are redoing their site. what is the big deal if an image is missing for a little while. it's not like you would need the iCal update oh so desperately.

and if there was a page 3, there would have to be a page 4, and 5 and so on. arn would have his hands full!
(page 138) new G1,000,000 next hour?
lol:p
