Make Spotlight Ignore USB Drives

Is there any way to permanently make Spotlight ignore USB drives?

It is no good when I plug in my friends' USB sticks or HDDs, then Spotlight start indexing those drives and dumping a bunch of folders in there... 😱🙁

I know about the ".metada_never_index" trick, but that is only fine with USB drives that I own.

Any ideas?
