Unlike most people I want only one clip on imovie 08

I have a video that was made for me by a friend. The finished product is on mini dv.

I have imported it, but imovie 08 keeps breaking it up into clips which is fine, but then it rearranges the clips.

Could you help me either
1) Import as one single clip

or

2) make the clips be in the order of capture

I was able to use idvd to capture and burn the movie. But I am still looking for a way to get the clips from a movie exactly as was on my camera.

Thought I had it, but the dvd I did with idvd has no audio...please help!
