I'm trying to record myself using my iSight camera in my iMac. Quicktime will not record the video though it does let me see the video window.

I press the record button and recording does not start. When I press to stop the record button I get this error message:

"Recording failed because no data was received. Make sure that the media input source is turned on and playing."

The camera is working and will record video via iMovie. So this is clearly a quicktime problem.

Does anybody know how to fix this? I'm running Leopard on an Intel Mac (one of the new ones).

By the way, I uninstalled and reinstalled quicktime but that doesn't seem to have accomplished anything. I still get the error message.

I Figured It Out!

Go to "preferences" - "recording" - and make sure that your "quality" is set to
"device native".
worked for me..
hope it all works out!
