Taking Photos off a DVD

Hi guys,

I've got a DVD with a slideshow on it (including music etc). The DVD was burnt on a PC by somebody else.

Is it possible to some how take the photos from the disc, and manipulate/edit them? See the attached screen shots for what I can see...

you can do a screen capture while it's playing. hit "command" "option" and "3" and then it saves the file to your desktop

Screen captures don't work in OS X while play a DVD. However you can use VLC player and do this very easily.
Just pop in your DVD and use VLC to open and play the movie. Just right-click or control click and the screen capture option will be in the contextual menu and the pic will capture to the desktop and can be edited.

Don't seem to have VLC on my macbook ,is it a 3rd party app?

is there a way to undo the formatting that is done to the media to create a dvd disc and be left with the source video, audio and photos?

is the entire disc a slideshow?

I dont know how well it will come out but you can of course rip the dvd with handbrake and open the resulting videofiles (s) in mpeg streamclip and export image sequences.

VLC is sorta the best friend on your computer when Quicktime or Windows Media Player doesn't play nice.
It's freeware and offers a whole lot of features and plays just about every codec but the frame capture feature alone is almost worth paying for.
I actually created a lot of pictures of my family home DVD's this way.

handbrake and mpegstreamclip are both free 3rd party apps.
