I want to buy an apple laptop

i have a budget of £250-1000 ($500-2000) well i will do, i dont have a job at the moment

with my budget what laptop could i be looking at, i think if its best if i go with used looking at my budget.

Thats quite a spread..It seems like refurbished MB would be best for you. Dont buy anything you cant afford or you will have major troubles with paying for it. technology is getting cheaper each day so it doesnt make much sense to get broke just to get something you dont really neeed.
Refurbished MB is affordable and will do all you want it to do.

I would say the middle model MacBook is the best choice. £829 leaves you with £171 change.
For just over £200, you could dramatically increase the useful lifetime of the MacBook by upgrading the RAM to 4GB (£105 from Crucial (http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=MacBook%202.2GHz%20Intel%20Core%202%20Duo%20%2813-inch%20White%29%20MB062LL/B)), and the hard drive to a 7200 RPM 200GB one (£104 from ebuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131435)).

I don't see much point in a SuperDrive, because all I do is store on external HD, so I went for the low-end MacBook, which, coupled with a higher education discount, cost just £601.

If you aren't eligible, find someone who is!

What do you need the computer to do? If it's just basic tasks I would even look into the last gen macbooks refurb as you will save a nice chunk of change there and the last version will still do more then you need it to if you just want it for basic movie watching, email, word/office etc.

yeah i think that you would be very happy with a middle level or even the entry level macbook. they are well within your budget and are great machines for the price!
