sony a1 and mac leopard

Hi I have just bought a new mac book and want to download and edit some HD movies i have filmed on a Sony HD A1 camera but Imovie will not recognise the footage. i get a blue screen but no picture. can anyone help

also, are you plugged in via FireWire? (aka iLink)

So I'm guessing you are in the UK? Sony HVR-A1E is European vs Sony HVR-A1U that was for the United States? I believe (no expert) if you are the UK that the HDV is still the same? The rest of the unit will be PAL format and not NTSC. Regardless have camcorder OFF.. plug in firewire cables.. power on camcorder.. turn on i-movie... As I remember you may have to change setting to HD. I don't think HDV is different in the UK vs the US, but it could be. If so was your mac a European model?
