With 20x burn speeds now available, why is it that Apple is still shipping out the iMac with only an 8x burner? When I burn CD's, DVD, photo CD's, etc, I know I appreciate having jumped to a 16x on my crappy PC. The thought of waiting around for 2x the time is kinda bumming me out.
Fortunately that's the only 'bad' thing that I see with my future purchase.

The reason that apple is using these drives is that they are the fastest slim slot loading dvd-burners available, as far as I know. Desktop PCs can use the big bulky ones that are at 20X.

That's just a silly reason then. The internals from a 8x to an 20x can't be all that incredibly different that it would require a 'bulk-up' in size, can it? I shudder to think of the drop off in burning speed. I'm such an impatient bastich
Worst case scenario is i'll add an external 20x burner. Oh well.
