I found a very interesting article over at Slashdot about a JavaScript performance comparison between the so-called "Big 4" web browsers - IE, Safari, Firefox, and Opera. The general conclusions:
Opera wins, though a beta version had to be used to get the tests to work, and Safari beats it on some of the sub-scores.
Safari is a clear 2nd.
IE is 3rd, if you ignore the atrocious string test performance. The string test on IE took about 100 times as long as it did on all the other browsers.
Firefox is 4th, though this test was for Firefox 2. Firefox 3.0 beta 2 is faster.
