On my new 1Ghz DP mac, in os x, list view is always default when I open the hard drive. I always have to change it cause I like the columns. How do I make column view default?

Open the HD, select column view and then close the window. The next time you open the HD, it will be in column view. For some odd reason, this is how you set the view preference - don't ask me why.

When you open a new Finder window, any changes you make to it (view, size, column widths, etc) before you use it to navigate anywhere are saved.
It's whacky, and if there was one thing I could change about X, that, well, wouldn't be it... but it would be high on the list :)
I want to be able to set every window that opens to be column view, a certain size, and in a certain place. At the moment, that simply isn't possible.
Hmm, this gives me an idea for a new thread...

is there any app to change keystrokes? I'm really tired of getting a new window every time I want to make a new folder

I want the same control over my RAM in OS X. That would be on the top of my list. Seems like something as relatively "simple" as remembering individual window/position settings could be easily fixed. After all my first Mac OS, System 7.5, had this ability.
