MBP iTunes CD Importing Speed, what's yours and is mine too slow?

My iTunes imports CD into AAC tracks at the speed of about 12x, is this too slow for an MBP? I think it should be 24x or even higher.

Please share your speeds!

I get slightly higher speeds for MP3 on my old Pentium-M lappy.

You have to take into account the compression and the speed of the optical drive.

With an external firewire CD drive, I've seen some crazy import speeds.
Like around 40X on some discs.
But yeah, using the internal drive usually nabs 4-12X.
