I'm looking to access some mac files on Windows but don't want MacDrive, but rather some freeware.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks :)

HFS Explorer (http://hem.bredband.net/catacombae/index2.html) will allow you to read (but not write) Mac volumes from windows.

What I'd like to do is access a Macintosh formatted iPod from Windows. Any suggestions??

Can't be done. Windows can't read HFS+. Well, I think there is a third-party solution, but it probably costs money. Just make the iPod FAT32* so that they can both read it.
*I wouldn't, but I'm a purist...
