Do we have to run Disk Compression on Mac? [Archive]

I just switched to Mac last 2 weeks. And I was curious if we have to run disk compression if we want to make the Mac runs faster.

If yes, how?

Macs use the HFS+ file structure, which has on-the-fly optimization.
