Sunflower imac g4 can't boot from CD! Help!

Hi All,

I have a sunflower imac g4 that I'm trying to install 10.4 onto, but I can't boot from the install CD's. I held 'option' down at startup and the only startup disk it sees is my hard drive and not the installation CD. However, superdrive works, I can see the contents of the install CD and it still plays DVD's, music, etc!

I have tried changing the startup disk to the CD but that doesn't work either. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can install 10.4?

The install disks are for Tiger OSX 10.4

Purchased from Apple as an upgrade for the iMac G4 (2003)

Okay, so it turns out my CD Rom was broken but I figured out a way to use the discs by using Firewire Target mode with my macbook. Here's the article in case someone else runs into the same problem:
