Hi

I would like to buy for a MBP an External Desktop Drive.
This will be my first one.
Could you please recommend me some good quality hard drive.
Also could you please tell me when I am choosing what options to look for please?
For example I would like sth between 300-500 GB,to back up my work there.
i dont know if to go for firewire or usb 2?

thanks for your help

FW800 would be best, followed by FW400 and then USB2. Despite the specs on USB2, FW400 is better. My Mac Mini boots from a FW400 500.72.16 drive and it's performance is more than adequate.

You can also get an eSATA drive, but that requires a cardbus adapter.

First, a good quality hd. Well, others might have some but matter of opinion. I would check out newegg.com for some great hard drives.

Second. options: The RPM. I would get the fastest possible. Interface. USB, Firewire, and eSata. For a MBP i would recommend Firewire. Much faster than USB. Size: get as much as you want.

Third, Price. Look at the customer reviews and ratings for the drive at newegg.com and pick the one you want that will fit your needs
