OSX 10.2.8 problems

Since I've updated last nite, everytime the Powerbook 15" "Titanium" model goes to sleep, I get a message upon awakening that I need to reboot the machine?? Is this OSX 10.2.8 or is something else wrong?

Also, as I mentoned on the hardware side, I can't use my external monitor alone anymore either. When I shut down the PB monitor, I get the screen on my external, but it is unusable. It is just a blue screen. I'm unable to work on it.

Any thoughts. I sent Apple a message about this on their apple/OSX web site.

I have a 1ghz TiBook and have had good success so far with x.2.8. Even better battery time! :)

I found it. I ran both verify permissions and then repair permissions on both the disk and the volume?? Not sure what the difference is??

I then shut everything down even the power. Took out and reinserted the external monitor plug, in case it wasn't seated properly. Restarted everything and it seems to work.

I could never get the verify and repair buttons to light, just the "permission" buttons.

Just curious, what does all that do??

Verify just checks to see if all of the permissions are correct, repair permissions fixes them if they're not. It's my understanding that this makes sure files that should be "owned" by you, are, so that you can use them.

The buttons that you could not select were to verify and repair the disk. You could not select those because you can not verify or repair the startup disk. If you were to boot from the install CD, you'd be able to verify and repair your hard drive.

To clarify:

Repairing permissions only works on the volume (aka partition) that OS X is installed on.

I'm sorry, but I'm talking about the latest update, released today.

FWIW, I haven't had any problems with either 10.2.8 build on my Powerbook, and today's update is running fine on my fiancée's.

Since I verified and repaired the permissions, everything is back to normal today. Obviously, that is what it needed!!!
