When you buy you mac at the retail store or reseller, do you open the box in the store to make sure that there is a Mac inside? I never notice it until now, but my dad makes me do this everytime we go buy a Mac.
 
I think the weight of the box might clue you into the fact that there's no computer inside far before you leave the store...just a thought.
 
I've always ordered macs on the 'net.

That said, it's not particularly unusual to check the contents when you're paying ~2000. If it were $100 that might be strange, but for such a large purchase?...
 
Maybe from a reseller, but I wouldn't really worry in an Apple retail store. But I will probably always get online, since I tend to get BTO machines.
 
Oh, I thought the thread was figurative rather than literal. I was looking for thinking inside the box . . .
