Stage 4 Multiplexing Error

I just purchased a Philips CDD-5101 DVD burner for my Mac g4. I have IDVD v3

I keep getting a stage 4 multiplexing error at the end of the burning process.

Is there a firmware upgrade I need? I have not sucessfully burned a DVD yet and its getting expensive wating blank discs.

iDVD is only compatible with internal superdrive
