I've got an Xserve handy now, to do some server related stuff..

So far, I'm running a webserver for my sites, and now I am trying to start an IRC server on it.

I can't seem to find an IRCd that will run on it :( It's running Jaguar.

Anyone have any suggestions, tutorials, downloads- anything?!

Thanks :)

You might check for Hybrid, which is open source. I don't think there's been an adaptation for Mac OS X, but it's more likely than most.

If I remember correctly, hybrid compiles from source fine on OS X assuming you have all the developer stuff like `make` installed.

http://www.ircd-hybrid.org/

There are a few others as well

http://sourceforge.net/projects/cs-ircd/
http://www.unrealircd.com/ (aparently, haven't tried it and couldn't find much about using it on OS X)
http://tr-ircd.sourceforge.net/trircdircd.htm
http://undernet-ircu.sourceforge.net/

You can also install hybrid via fink - http://fink.sourceforge.net/
