Okay, heres the story,
My brother purchased me a gift at Walmart for $200. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with my new mac computer. I want to exchange the gift, and get cash for it, which I'm not sure I can do.
I also received a $100 apple gift card from my aunt. What I want to do, is use the money I received from the purchase from Walmart and the $100 gift card to buy an iPod touch.
My main question is this, if returning a $200 gift from Walmart, will I receive cash? If not, what? A gift card? I doubt both my apple gift card and walmart (if getting a gift card) will get me my iPod Touch.

It depends mostly on how the item was purchased.
Then again it is return season.

So, what does that mean?

So, what does that mean?Cash, check, debit, and credit have different return policies.
Like I said it is gift return season so I don't know how you'll get the money back since you weren't the original purchaser.

If you have the gift receipt and it is within 90 days. You should be able to get cash.

What if it is a regular receipt? Would that make a difference?

What if it is a regular receipt? Would that make a difference?Just how old is the purchase? I'm surprised you don't have a gift receipt or a regular one with the gift one attached.

I know that the gift was purchased in December. You see, my brother bought it, and I'm not really sure about the exact date and if he got a gift receipt or not. I have the actual receipt, but it is not a gift receipt. Never mind, It was purchased December 21, 2007. I do not have a gift receipt.

You don't need a gift receipt, since you have THE receipt. Gift Receipts are something a lot of stores give out around the holidays (and other times) and don't show the purchase price.
Since you have the receipt you can return it to Wal-Mart. If your brother purchased it with a credit card, you can't get cash back. They'll give you store credit or credit the purchase back to his card. If he paid with cash you can get cash on the return. I think you can get cash if he used a debit card.

Why don't you just CALL WALMART and ask them? Wouldn't they know best?
I hear that they have a customer service number these days.....

Have you tried reformatting it to work with your Mac? All iPod devices can be formatted for either Windows or Mac OS's......if you have the latest version of iTunes it should prompt you if it detects a different format.
