Sorry if this is a super noob question, but... is there a way to read/send email with the iPod Touch?

Yes..... if you SEARCH THE FORUMS (hey, there's a brilliant idea!) for Ipod touch with Mail you'll see a plethora of info on hacking the iPod touch to add 3rd party applications, including adding the mail application from the iPhone onto the iPod touch.

Hey man, it's his first post... give the noob a break.
That said, WildPalms is right. First rule: SEARCH THE FORUM. While our search tool pretty much sucks (some people use google-- "search term" site:forums.macrumors.com), it'll get you where you need to be most of the time.

Point taken and great tip using Google to search the site. :)

Yup, you can jailbreak (http://macbit.net/hardware/jailbreak-ipod-touch) (or "hack") the Touch and then configure Gmail (http://macbit.net/hints/ipod-touch-configure-gmail-imap-folders) for the newly installed Mail application.
Have fun!

Why Gmail? Chances are that the person asking probably has a Gmail account and the next question would probably be "how do I configure Mail to work with my Touch".
Cheers.

I have always believed that asking questions is part of a research. So I asked AND searched the forums.
I got to a thread that talks about jailbreaking.
Im going to research that, but I'm sure I will have to ask more questions.
So please bear with me.

Rules change when you're on a forum. Repeated questions clog the forum and aggravate veteran users. That's why you search for your question, ascertain as much pertinent information as possible, and then reconsider the need to ask a question. In your case, there was absolutely no need to ask; in other instances, there may be.
