Expired .mac account intefering with Mail

Hello.

My .mac account has expired but, on startup, Mail insists on trying to retrieve email from the .mac account - a dialog box pops up and it asks for a password. This happens three times and I have to click 'Cancel' each time. I am currently using Mail to receive email in a completely different account and I'd like to delete the .mac mail mailbox. Can anyone help?

The 'Delete Mailbox' option can't be selected for some reason.

Right click on the .Mac mailbox and select take off-line (or somthing like that, not @ my mac at the moment to check).
