Question...

How much has Apple improved the Ti? I had one of the orginal 400MHz units and it felt very fragile... Have they improved the paint, hinge and so forth?

I can buy a brand new one for $2030 -- I know I can buy the al-1.0 for the same price but it would lack the superdrive, airport card...

or I'll just get the new al-12 with SD :)

I have a 1Gig Ti book

I've had my 1 Gig Ti book for about 3 months now. No paint scratching, no hinge issues, it does get warm but not uncomfortably and and not on top (I use Coolpads at home and at work anyway).

Plenty fast, looks cool, don't know how I lived without it, quite frankly.

But, I've never played with an older Ti other than an 800Mhz, so I don't know if mines better or not.

Honestly tho', the internal Superdrive is pretty slow and the Airport range isn't great (it works in my house fine, but I can see how it might be a problem for some).

Don't know

Time to burn a full DVD? Don't know, never done it.

It took the system about an hour to burn the iDVD created movie I made, but I don't think it was all burn time.
