I am about to purchase a PowerMac G5, and I also want to buy a new set of speakers, 5.1 speakers, but the speakers that I want are analog speakers. My question is: Can I plug in 5.1 speakers through Apple's analog output and hear 5.1 surround sound? Thanks again for the help

Well... since the G5 has optical audio out, one option would be to buy any 5.1 channel home theater system that supported optical audio in (most, if not all, do), then hook your G5 up to that; so far as I understand, that'd give you 5.1 channels of audio.

I'm not sure that that's quite what you were looking to do, and not being a big audio guy I can't give you any tips past that.
