View Full Version : Where is the happy new year message?

Hello... I owned PowerMac 8500 about ten years ago. It was under System 7 as far as I remember. On Jan 1 of each year, a sign saying happy new year showed up when I turned on the computer. How come it does not appear under Mac OS X?

The only happy new year message I know of was with system 6.0.7. And then you had to have Kanji talk or something installed, or the Japanese system.

Really! That's interesting. I've never seen that in all my years of using Macs.
I'm not surprised OS X doesn't have it, as I recall Apple tightened easter eggs and stuff like that down a bit from what there was in OS 9 and earlier.

They were. We'd flood the BBS's (with our Hayes 300-baud modems) seeing who found the latest eggs. Pretty much every OS, every app had them.
