Hey all,

I am curious how to set up something like the title indicates.

Rather than load the page in question into the public HTML folder on my server, which produces this:

http://www.domain.com/page.html

I am wondering how sites set up the server for an address such as:

page.domain.com

Any input would be appreciated.

And the subdomain is usually setup with BIND (DNS). DNS works downwards, so if you want to go to x.y.foo.com, you first go to com, which gives you the DNS for foo, which gives you the DNS for y, which gives you the DNS for x.

If you have a control panel with your web hosting, go to the subdomains section, and create a new one, with the name you wish to use, eg page for page.website.com

On mine, the added subdomain appears as a folder in the root level of the server, you can then place your index file in that folder. That index file appears when you go to the url eg page.website.com

Hope that helps.
