I have a hunch that apple is developing a digital audio workstation that will compete with protools. Maybe they'll actually team up with digidesign...oh wait...nevermind, digi would never share. In all seriousness, it kind of makes sense seeing as how they keep integrating more audio hardware e.g. optical i/o into their g5's etc. Comments? Ideas? Rumors? I'm interested.

The optical I/O in the G5 PowerMacs seems to be included for surround sound systems using Dolby Digital. In Panther's Apple DVD Player Dolby Digital will finally be supported.

Having said that, Apple does own Logic so they allready are competing with Digidesign in that space.

Speaking of DigiDesign, we are still waiting for an OS X compatible ProTools Free.

You mean something like this (http://www.apple.com/software/pro/logic/)?

And I can't see Digidesign "teaming up" w/Apple sense they are owned by Avid.
