Some more pleasant photos taken of the new car. :) Since then I got blackline tail lights, black emblems, black grille (as opposed to the stock chrome), and tinted the windows.

Nice, if you get rims any bigger you wont have any tire left.

I'd say 18's are pretty standard for a sport sedan these days.

Tahoe's are great trucks too, though I prefer the last generation styling and interior setup. However, If I had extra money to blow I'd buy a used Escalade. The '02-'06's are becoming extremely cheap.

My dad has had a 04 Escalade and the thing was alright but his 07 he has now is a whole lot nicer. The bodystyle I like alot more, and the interior is leaps and bounds above the 04, it also has a bigger engine.

Nice Lexus! Always liked that bodystyle; much more elegant than the Land Cruiser of the same era.

Thanks! I need to get it up into your neck of the woods soon. New Bern's got some really beautiful spots.:)

I never like the 02-06 Excalade, or the 99-00 either. I do like the new Excalades and GMC Denalli over the Tahoe. The new Excalades and Denalli seem more of a cruising truck then a work truck, there to pretty. But the 02-06 Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon, are very nice and are not over nice. To me I like them the best, I am not afraid to get down and dirty in them. But that's just me, I prefer those years. I also really love the 1999 Chevy Tahoe, for some reason.

I have two cars.

The first is a 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged. I bought it in March of 2006 and have not regretted it one bit! It is extremely fun to drive and the I get compliments on it almost everytime I take it out.

On Monday, I bought a second Cobalt. This one is non supercharged and is silver moss metallic color with all the avilable options including bluetooth that works with my 3G iPhone. I don't have a pic yet. It's a 2009.

the e63 is a comfortable cruiser with lots of torque and a 7 speed auto. this is my choice for driving around town and if you have a lot of traffic.

the m5 is a beast that requires your full attention. it doesn't have as much torque down low, but it screams all the way from 4000 rpm to its modified 8400 rpm redline. the ride is also much stiffer. this is the car i choose if i'll be on clear freeway for an extended period of time or if i want to take a weekend cruise through the canyons.

fwiw, i just took the m5 on a weekend trip to vegas. this car screams to be driven. i hit 110 mph in third gear and it was pulling hard with no end in sight. i also got 19 mpg averaging about 85 mph the whole trip.

Yeah I work at the local Cadillac dealership and it is definitely a much nicer truck. Drives so much better, and the interior looks like a real Cadillac should. However, I feel the seats are not nearly as comfortable and plush. It seems lately that Cadillac is trying to go for a German type seat (aka BMW), whereas the older Cadillac's (my Seville) has a comfortable, plush leather seat that is like sitting in a couch. I prefer the latter...

Thanks! I need to get it up into your neck of the woods soon. New Bern's got some really beautiful spots.:)

The weather has been terrible here lately. It was cold last week, which I absolutely loved. Then this week, it's raining and it's 85 degrees. If you take it off road, be sure to go back in the Croatan. Be careful though: there are some treacherous spots back there.

My mom had a '99 Surburban, '01 and '05 Yukon XL, and currently has an '08 Denali. The '01 had the most comfortable seat (for some reason, GM took lumbar off the '05 SLT model and that made it uncomfortable on longer trips), the '99 had the most room, and the '05 has been the most reliable so far. Went through a transmission in the '99 and '01 ('99 at 75k, '01 at 36k), '99 had problems with audio and few other things. The '08 is my favorite though. Comfortable, stylish, powerful, and lots of toys. However, I do have a soft spot for that old Suburban. Saw a '95 the other day with 350k miles on it. They just don't build 'em like they used to.

Sorry but I couldn't help but comment on the 'they just don't build them like they use to' with an american car from '99. I expected that from something from the 70's. American cars have sucked, I've thought forever.

My mum owns this car, though it is a 1998 model (1.8t). I found it is pretty low on power with a big flat spot in the middle of it's RPM range, although I don't notice any turbo lag; it seems pretty linear.

Is yours 230hp atw? That seems pretty high compared to the stock figure of 148hp. What mods have you done?

It should read 220hp (Actually 219.7 but I rounded up :o ) .

The car has quite a few modifications, but has a stock block and head.

The old Suburban's were pretty bulletproof. The newer Yukon XL's and Suburban's aren't up to par (IMO) to the '93-'99 generation.

I love this car, and it has proven to be a bit of a sleeper even to this day. All stock with the exception of 17" Borbet Type E wheels, European spec headlights, and 1992 Audi S4 seats (larger bolsters, narrower base, and adjustable thigh supports) and a replacement for the stock exhaust system.

Audi imported under 1,500 of these in sedan form, and less than 500 in a wagon. It was only available in a manual, and with Quattro (AWD) in 1991. Car and Driver tested these out at 15.2 in the 1/4 with a top speed of 149 MPH. Not bad for a turbocharged 2.2 liter 20v 5 cylinder engine rated at 217 HP in 1991!

More detailed specifications on these cars can be found here (http://members.aol.com/c1j1miller/200-specs.html).

Thanks! I love it to death... just took a good 'ol drive on some backroads and the car still shocks me. Though it's FWD, it handles pretty damn good. The one to get is the '03 with the Magneride Suspension (same one from the Corvette). Handles so much better than mine, and the struts don't cost $500 apiece when 100k miles come around.

You're LHS is gorgeous. That design is still very modern and classy today, and IMO looks much nicer than the current Chrysler cars. Speaking of 300C, I've driven one myself and they are deceptively fast. Didn't expect that much power from the car.

An uncle of mine has an '02 STS, and yes, for FWD, it can pull through the twists with surprising sure-footedness. As for the 300C's being fast, yes, they are. A stock Hemi C will run the quarter at about 14 seconds flat. Pretty great for a car of its size (and price).

I appreciate the kind words per the LHS - no one can believe she's 8 years old. The LH cars have held up very well style wise, they just have a certain presence about them. I dream of a coupe version:

Yep I think it was the only non "S" car that can achieve those numbers until you got to the 2.7T A6 (Twin turbo 2.7L V6) and the 4.2L A6.

Spent the weekend Autocrossing the Passat. Was planning on taking the GTI out, however I need to install control arm bushings, and a wheel bearing onto the GTI. I think the Rabbit would have done a bit better as it was a fast, but narrow setup for this weekend. First time autocrossing in years!.

The thing I really dislike about Porsche is that their entire model lineup has looked the same for decades. The cheapest model is extremely similar looking to the most expensive models. I'm also not keen on the front end of these cars looking like VW Beetles.

Very nice. My mom has an 07 Sport HSE. I love that car though I do prefer the real Range Rovers. I've got to say though, those wheels are hideous. Go find the stock ones and put them back on, they'll look a lot better. Reliability has been better than other LR's we've owned. Basically the only issue has been a door lock and it got 14mpg solid which turned out to be bad 02 sensors.

I have a 2000 Discovery. I love it but its nothing like driving the Range Rover Sport.

Hopefully we'll ditch our Touareg and get an LR3 or a used Range Rover. The Touareg is a great car aside from its atrocious reliability (and the GPS is pretty bad too).

I read somewhere that around 70% of cars sold in North America are automatic, so ya it is rare. I know a lot of people who don't have a clue how to use one.

SWEET

i was thinking about a Fusion before i bought the beamer..

how does it drive? any brake or transmission slamming issues like the taurus?

the sel is the luxury one right? with leather and all that stuff :)

the price for this car is damn good.. i saw used ones for 10-15k miles on for $13-$15k

I love the car. Handling and brakes are top notch. The 6 speed Aisin automatic is great. It's the same tranny that Toyota uses in the Camry so it has been tested for awhile. I also have all wheel drive, leather, moon roof, SYNC, Sirius Sat. audio, etc. Yeah the SEL is the nicest trim level. Here are a few more pics. These are from last April when I got it. It was new at the time.

It isn't a positive thing that it came from the Camry. When the new Camry came out back in 2007, the transmission refused to shift into 2nd and 6th gear. Though they did recall it and hopefully fixed the issue by now. Just don't go assuming things even with the perception of the Camry and Accord. ;)

It still makes me wonder though why Ford didn't use the 6 speed auto they and GM developed together. I love it in my Aura. :) Probably contract reasons, but I expect them to switch it to theirs with the Fusion's refresh in 2010(MY) I believe it is.

DRLs are already required by law in Canada.
Even if you were to buy a new car from say the US without DRL, the car must have DRLs installed before it can be driven.

...Kinda sucks

its for safety. i know certain states require people to turn theres on when its foggy or rainy. it makes it easier for cars to be seen. its proven to cause less accidents....also do xenon (hid) lights.

anyways, here's my car.

Missouri has that law, basically, if your wipers are on, your headlights need to be on, but no one follows it and it's not enforced either. So DRLs help cover for people's stupidity and ignorance, although DRLs usually don't put on the rear lights, so they don't help you see cars in front of you.

My car has DRLs and I don't mind them. I don't think I can tell a difference in visibility during the day, but if it helps others see me and avoid hitting me, I'm OK with it. And I make sure to turn my full head/tail lights on when it's raining.

Is a manual box really that rare where you guys live that you need to list it as being part of the car?

Here it goes without saying a car has a manual box unless it explicitly says auto.

almost every car in the us is auto unless it's a sports car or an older car.

I think everyone in this country needs to drive a manual, at least once, to know what it's like. I just love the people who are tailing me and nearly end up in my backseat when I've got the slight pause in acceleration from 1st to 2nd. Especially when they honk and flip me off because they think I'm just taking my foot off the gas for no reason.

The funny thing is that although it is the same transmission that was used in the Camry they never had any shift issues in the Fusion. The Aisin seems to be a great transmission in my car. I know someone is going to go after me for saying this, but...maybe it was Toyota's fault with a bad controller? Ford is using the Ford/GM 6 speed in the Edge, Flex and Taurus. I think the Fusion came out before that transmission was ready and Ford wanted it to have a 6 speed. I believe that the Fusion, Milan and MKZ will switch to the Ford/GM 6 speed for the 2010 redesign.

I agree with the other guy who said they don't think they could do it with their left hand.

I had two manuel cars and I loved them. Made driving so much more fun, however I am VERY right hand dominate and it would really be like relearning how to do it, but I'd probably mess up 3rd and 5th A LOT more often.

I'm very right handed and i can change gears fine with my left hand, if u think, your strongest hand (right) is stearing while left is just changing gears. I guess it's just what your used to.

I had a Auto hire car once and though it's nice not doing anything you feel like you don't really have control of the car it's weird.

I would love one as a daily driver, there very comfy inside and the powers great stock (265..btw). They actually tested the 09 WRX and found that it ran the 0-60 and 1/4mi faster than the STI. Should they hide or cover their license plate when driving too? What are they going to do with a license plate number? Never understood why people do that. What makes someone online that much more dangerous than the hundreds of people that see it on a daily basis in person?

I know this is probably not the best example, but if you watch any reality show or news cast, they always blur out the license plate on cars. I don't know what you could do with it, but I'm guessing someone's thought of something.

I'm assuming someone with the right resources could look it up and find out who you are and where you live. Or something to that extent. But honestly, try and steal my car. You can have it if you can get past the guard dogs, the barbed wire fence, the moat full of piranhas and the land mind field. :D

The 2006 Hyundai Accent. I love driving something with decent gas milage. I can travel now without having to sell my left nut for gas money (like I nearly had to do when going anywhere in the Astro Van). It isn't the greatest looking car and not the fastest. But it was cheap and gets me where I want to go, and that is what a car is for.

does anyone know how much money it would be to change from headlight bulbs on the left to headlight bulbs on the right?

http://onspire.com/MTEC_Cosmos/4750k-1.jpg

ALSO, what is the name for the headlights on the right. i've heard like Zenon lights, White lights, Blue lights...what's the general name of these bright headlight bulbs?

whoever replies to this with a good answer i have a quick follow up question.

Those appear to be a factory replacement bulb similar to Sylvania Silverstars which will probably run you $25-$30 for a set. They do not look like a Xenon or HID system which require more then a simple bulb replacement. Those bulbs just change the color of the light, they're not actually any brighter.

yeah that's all i want, a change in color, i don't want to replace any wires or anything. if i used those, would i use them as well for my fog lights? i have a feeling with bright headlights and "yellow" fog lights it would look stupid, so it's all or nothing.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that at least here in the UK it is illegal to fit these super bright Xenon bulbs unless your car has headlamp washers.

Xenon lights are legal in the US, a lot of high end cars (land rover, bmw, lexus) have them standard..i'm not sure about the UK.

Nice! Purple Pearl Metallic. It's not very often that you see one in that color. When I was a kid, my Dad bought one brand new. A 1994 Z28. That was what got me into cars. I have a lot of fond memories of that car. We'd go drag race it just about every weekend.

That's awesome. yep it's my first car it's just a v6 (wish I could-of got a z28 but not a good first car for a 17 year old :p) I've had it for about a year now and always wondered what the color was, thanks. So it's Purple Pearl Metallic, I always called it dark gray with purple metallic. lol

Yep, it's Purple Pearl Metallic. Only 5,801 made in 1994. That's including both base model Camaros and Z28s. It's a very rare color.

Your car looks to be in great condition from the pics.

Even though yours isn't a Z28, it's still a fun car, I'm sure. My friend has a black '94 V6 5 Speed and he loves it.

Now your lights may look blue, but this is actually a tint on the bulb as well. This will decrease the brightness, and by a significant amount too! I mean, if you want to sacrifice safety for looks go right on ahead. And plus, that brand of bulbs has just about the shortest life spans on cars, compared to just about any other regular bulb.

Some members over at the Aurora forums say they get about 3 months out of a pair of the Silverstar bulbs. Crap, I have had my car for two years and I haven't had to change the bulbs once!

YMMV

^^^^ Lots of Camaro love in this thread.

Add another fan to the list. My dad purchased a new '95 Z28 when I was younger, and a new 2002 Camaro SS when they were released. He had a Z06 for a little bit, but I never liked the Vette as much as the Camaro.

His '02 was superchaged with NOS. *Easily* did the 1/4 in mid-10s with proper tires. It was such an awesome ride.

Anyhoo, I'm on my own now. Currently drive an '06 Grand Prix. But I purposefully purchased on a four year loan; that way, I outta be able to afford the new Camaro a little bit after graduating. I figure I can save a bit, sell my current car, and I get the family discount as my Grandpa works at a GM plant. If I do a five year loan, my payments would probably be just a little bit more.

Now insurance... that's a different matter. :p

The new Camaro is BADASS. I can't wait 'til they are released. No way I could afford one, but maybe I could talk 'em into a test drive. :p

They are powerful, too. 300hp from the base V6, which is insane, considering my Dad's '94 had an LT1 V8 that made 275hp.

The 8C is the first one coming to the US and prices are around $260,000. It seems the 159 and Brera are likely to follow. I would guess the 159 starts in the low 30's and the Brera in the mid 20's. They are beautiful looking cars though.

Very nice. I am guessing its between an 03 and 05. My family has owned a number of Land Rovers over the years- 1 Range Rover Classic, 3 Discoveries, and a Range Rover Sport. All I can say is good luck. Luckily yours has the 4.4 BMW V8 which is probably much more reliable than the 30 year old buick based V8's that Land Rover kept until 2002 in the Range Rover and all the way to 2004 in the Discovery. Make sure you get the front driveshaft/differential checked out if its an 03/04, a design flaw tends to make them fail repeatedly and they cost mad money to fix. They finally put a recall on it this year but its for a limited time only.

Unfortunately, my car sits at my dealer awaiting a new windshield. Some moron didn't install it correctly, and it's leaked since I bought it. In the meantime, I'm driving this:

It's a blast to drive, gets decent gas mileage, and has a beautiful exterior and interior, but I don't think I'd trade my Seville for one.

But, that is because you prefer a boat vs a proper car. :p

Roadster is a better car than fortwo in every conceivable way - there's no reason to have both. I have the regular version (not coupe) and it does me fine for every day use.

I can't stand it when I see people replacing the badges on their car with another manufacturer's - it's worse than removing them entirely!

I've driven a roadster once and it drove fantastic. However my family always needs a spare car and the for Two will be that car.

And about the badges. :D The previous owner of them had them put on and I tried to replace it with the original smart badge. (We have a mercedes dealership so getting them was no problem at all). But on the front there are 3 holes instead of 1 and also on the back. So if I put the Smart badge on there are still two holes left.:o

The 8C is the first one coming to the US and prices are around $260,000. It seems the 159 and Brera are likely to follow. I would guess the 159 starts in the low 30's and the Brera in the mid 20's. They are beautiful looking cars though.

damnnnnnnn 260k?! the others (159, Brera) seem like they are very affordable though.

I know plenty of people who live/work in the city. But go off out in the country on the weekends... Believe it or not, it's cheaper to drive that. Then to buy and insure two cars... Also takes up a lot less space up...

It's also none of our business what he does with his vehicle. As long as he likes, that is all that maters...

are the newer ones (07-08) any more reliable?

The 06-08 have the Jaguar AJ-V8's which have been around for a while in Jaguar XJ's, Ford Thunderbirds, and Lincoln LS's. It was a top rated motor when it came out. Typically Land Rovers suffer from leakage- coolant, oil, etc. The first jag V8 went into the LR3 in 05 and from what I've heard the engine themselves have been reliable. Only time will tell though.

The drivetrain issues seem to have been resolved from the earlier models in the RR. They all have air suspension which basically will eventually fail- wether it be the air springs, the compressor, or valves. This can be solved with coil spring conversions which many Land Rovers end up getting. Land Rovers are always a little glitchy. The Range Rovers are especially complicated in terms of electronics. My mom has a Range Rover Sport HSE (Jaguar V8). Its been good, only real issue was a suspension fault due to bad software that had an update. Additionally it got bad gas mileage due to faulty 02 sensors. Other than that its been very good. We also have had 2 Discoveries and currently own one. They're fun to drive but not very reliable. I really think LR has however stepped up and decided to improve their quality control. They are not going to be comparable to a Honda or Toyota though haha.

The thing is I wouldn't buy a new Range Rover, ever. Well, I guess if money was no object I would but otherwise I wouldn't. They have the highest depreciation of any car. You might as well buy an 06 from a dealer with low mileage. You'll end spending 50% less and get a just as good or better warranty. If you want to buy new, go for the Range Rover Sport, they're cheaper and hold their value better. That said they don't have the refinement, beauty, or prestige of a the real Range Rover.

1992 Dodge W250 Cummins diesel- NV4500 5-speed.

230,000 miles. 4" exhaust. No muffler. Redneck exhaust stacks (on the truck when I bought it). HX40 turbo. Huge air filter. Enough fuel to cause a soot cloud black enough to eclipse the sun (comes in handy when tailgaters come around). 9 leaf springs per side in the back make it ride like the San Andreas fault.

I pour 1 quart of 2-stroke oil in the tank each 30 gallon fillup to help keep the injection pump lubed.

Real truck have two sticks, three pedals and no spark plugs.

Hmmm...it's actually tougher terrain here in Northern MN than most places in the UK...where we get WAY more snow (4-5 ft) and MUCH colder than you too (-25 C). And yes, I venture up there quite a bit (as I have a cabin in Northern MN).

My old Jeep Grand Cherokee is often the only way I could get through a few feet of snow, and even that thing has trouble navigating some of the dense woods.

But thanks for making a judgment call on my driving habits and what I will use my Range Rover for based on one picture of it sitting in my garage.
