Just put a 6000k HID system in my GX 470, wow what a difference. Who would think that a $54000 lexus new in 06 would come from the factory without it?!?!?

I don't know many luxury cars that come standard with Xenon lights or lights that have more of a day light temperature.

i know! it was optional on the old cts, not sure about the new one. pretty sure its an option on the 3 series and c class still, none of the rentals i used to buy had em. but a gx470? what a travesty...

The 3 series coupe has Xenons standard, and the 335i sedan has them standard and the 328i sedan is optional. The new CTS has projectors with the HID's optional on the DI model.

Well I am not talking about optional. He stated he can't believe they don't come standard on a 64,000 car. And my response was that I don't know many that actually come standard.

Now this proves my ignorance. Luckily luxury cars are starting to make them standard. I didn't think they were because when I have customized my BMW (just looking onlline for fun) it was an option for the 335i; not a standard. Perhaps this is new for 2008?

On the projectors or projection headlights, many cars have that, but that still doesn't mean they have daylight temperature lights.

It's not about that though, its about smooth flowing lines, especially on a black vehicle. It is a very European mod, looks good IMO.

Have to get some new pics and put them up of mine then I suppose.

The Seat did come with a front badge and you've massacred its looks by doing what you have done to it.

My mum had a Corsa like that, 1.3 CDTi version and it was absolutely awful. Constantly breaking down and a horrible interior that felt like it was stuck in the 90s. Sorry!

My Corsa is a 1.8 SRi. Im 18 yrs old so its a great car for me at the moment. Had it for over a year, no problems whatsoever ;)

The Seat Leon Cupra is my dads, he never took the badge off, he bought the sports grill from the dealership (which doesn't come with a badge, to look sportier) Its a beast, 240 bhp i love it!

In all honesty though, I love this car. It handles amazingly, has an electric roof, heated leather seats and the most awesome alloy wheels ever! I usually get 45-50mpg on my runs to University which means it's perfect for what I bought it for. Manufacturer badges are intact, front and rear! ;)

Since I took these photos I've replaced the stereo with a Sony one which has proper iPod connectivity. It cost me about £100 and now I can just dock my iPhone when I get into the car and control it with the head unit. It works brilliantly.

Yeah, I've seen the pictures and I've even seen a few on the backs of trucks (the factory is based near where I live). They don't look as good as the Holdens in my opinion, but hopefully Pontiac hasn't changed the ride and handling at all. If you get a Prius I'll never think the same of you again.

Then you really shouldn't buy a new car - just the damage of getting the raw materials, producing and shipping a car will create more pollution and CO2 than it will ever produce in a lifetime of being driven around.

But either way - don't get a Prius for gods sake. Those are just for smug bastards who want to pretend that cars can be "green". Hell, I have more respect for Hummer drivers because they're at least acknowledging that they're pricks.

yes and no... there are many variables. also an older car tends to be less energy efficient by design or due to wear and tear. but there are a couple of used fast sleepers on my mind if the g8 doesn't work out. :D

interesting, i've read that making a pruis may cause more harm to the environment than driving an H_something. while i'd never drive a hummer as a civilian, the prius certainly takes the fun outta driving. but when it comes to earth vs. me, it's just kinda hard to decide. :o

It has to do with all the nickel and lead used in Prius batteries. The environmental impact of that is potentially more harmful than that of an H2's exhaust.

A notion that has been thoroughly debunked.

http://www.thecarconnection.com/Auto_News/Green_Car_News/Prius_Versus_HUMMER_Exploding_the_Myth.S196.A12220.html?pg=1
http://www.betterworldclub.com/articles/hummer-not-more-efficient.htm
http://www.pacinst.org/topics/integrity_of_science/case_studies/hummer_vs_prius.pdf

Some highlights:
1) The most common source of the urban myth that a Hummer is more energy efficient over its lifetime assumes that a Hummer will last for 300,000 miles, whereas a Prius will only last for 100,000 miles. This assumption is based on precisely nothing.
2) The nickel mine where Toyota gets its nickel for batteries indeed had significant SO2 issues... thirty years ago. The mine (in Sudbury, Ontario) has reduced its SO2 emissions by 90% from its 1970 levels, and is targeting a 97% total reduction in 2015. Also, the amount of nickel that Toyota used for its batteries in 2004 was about 0.5% of the mine's total output that year.
3) The energy costs of development of the Hummer in the analysis were spread out over a large number of products, whereas the energy costs of development of the Prius were ascribed solely to the Prius. It's akin to saying that coffee has a higher marginal environmental cost than orange juice because the cup you use for coffee required more energy to produce... but only assuming that a coffee cup can only be used for coffee, and assuming that an orange juice glass can be used for anything.
4) The most commonly-cited study indicating that the Hummer is more efficient assumes that 85% of the total lifetime energy cost is used in recycling, and 15% in vehicle use. In reality, the numbers are reversed.

Yup, Stage III plus a stronger, quicker responding diverter valve that wont fail from the increased pressure. Should be in the vicinity of 300 horsepower and 325 pounds of torque at the crank.

And yet still so elegant!

My V6 Accord that I traded my old BMW in for last May. The Accord's great, I don't miss the BMW all that much actually...probably because something was constantly breaking, it sucked gas, it was cramped, etc. Oh it drove nice, but that was about it. I drive 120 miles a day (on track for about 32,000 miles this year) and this gets around 32 MPG on the highway (even with the ~250hp V6), and damn if it doesn't have some of the most supportive and comfortable seats of any car I've had.

Yes thats the part that really takes people by surprise. I also think its the part that reviewers miss or don't understand with a lot of turbo cars. They're quite leisurely if the gas isn't slammed to the floor, especially four cylinders.

My Saab might peak at 300 HP but under gentle driving conditions it feels like it has 130. There is simply no head-jerkingly responsive acceleration at low RPMs as there were in say my Camaro Z28 or BMW X5 4.4i... but I like it that way. It makes most of my trips very soft and uneventful. But I always know its there waiting.

I love the new Accord. The exterior is sexy as hell, but i'm disappointed with the interior. It has way too many buttons on the center stack, and that just plain annoys me. I'm a fan of simplicity, and love the interior of the Camry and Malibu.

For what it's worth... a Prius is great around town because it primarily uses the electric motor, but once you get on the freeway, you're much better off with a clean buring diesel like the Mercedes Benz BlueTec - twice the power and excellent MPG.

I'll try to get some new pics of my car tomorrow, although they'll be crappy since all I have is my iPhone and the car is probably dirty and/or covered in snow.

My Prius allows me to drive alone in the carpool lanes in California and doesn't use much gas. I guess I do feel pretty smug when I'm passing stop-and-go traffic at 65 mph, though. Sorry.

Sorry, but what gives you the right to be in the car pool lanes( or HOV lanes where I am) when you're the only one in the car? Oh that's right sorry, you're driving a Earth loving hybrid. Nope, not going to buy it. Get back in the congestion like the rest of the people driving alone. Do you also left lane hog because you're driving a hybrid?

Thanks Scott. A more senior colleague of mine gave me a lift in his previous edition A6 a few years ago and I was so impressed I resolved that day that I'd eventually get one of my own. I haven't been disappointed, and although it's a 'premium' priced product, it's worth every penny. The spec levels, build quality and styling are fantastic.

You need to take that back to the dealer, they put the steering wheel on the wrong side :p

But seriously though, looks good. Is that the same exterior as the US version, because if I'm right, it looks different (and better too). I think the US ones have an ugly plastic grill.

Hopefully this will improve soon, as I am looking to put a 4-speed auto with overdrive in, as well as fuel injection, which I hope will get me to 15city/22hwy. 1 Litre engine gives 61.4MPG (The diesel version got 90MPG in a recent test). Not quite the 700cc Smart Coupe mentioned earlier but more economical. I think virtually any car over 1.8 litres is pointless nowadays and irresponsible... but then I think dogs can't look up.

I got in a small accident in october, still haven't bothered replacing the door. then my handle snapped one freezing morning January , so i now have to go to a junkyard to find a replacement. I have a fuel injector that leaks from time to time and have a gasket that's leaking oil. All of which can be fixed for less than 400 with my own labor, just too busy to do it.

I got rear ended and my car just got minor scratches like one .25in line above the exhaust pipe while the 07 Honda Accord got the bumper all ruined and scratched. That shows hot strong this car is. I have not had a single problem with the car other than AC for eye contact people broke when I first got it got a new AC unit for that and I get free oil change by my dealer =) I think the reason I like my car is the dealership I got it from are awesome people.

Good luck with it. VW's are well built but electrically they are... not so good. Maybe the newer VW's are better. I must say VW does have pretty good service. They're always friendly and attentive but they do make a mess. One time while fixing the MAF of our Touareg they got grease all over the headliner. My mom pointed it out and they said the next time it came in they would detail the entire car and get rid of the grease, and they did. Our Touareg is an 05 and it still smells pretty new. When you turn on the heated seats the new car smell really comes back.

I've had a bunch of fun cars. I only pictured three; but I had a blast with the Scion tC I recently owned. The YJ series Jeep Wrangler and Toyota Tacoma 4x4 that I used to own were also favorites. Actually, the mini-van I currently have (Sienna XLE) is pretty nice. Heated leather seats, sunroof, great sound system, DVD player, V6, power everything.

Two Porsches that I loved and lost.

Yep, my biggest complaint with the car. ABS saved my ass a few times in previous cars. I really wish it had it. I just assumed it did when I bought it, I guess, since it has leather, etc. The next car I get WILL have ABS.

What do you do that dictates that you need a "car" like this?

Because if a man (or woman!) wants to drive a truck, they can. I don't think you need any added explanation.

And here is my ride I just sold (so sad, gas mileage was killing me):

Sweet IS-F, phiberglass!

Did you consider, say, the new M3 (http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Vehicles/2008/M/M3Sedan/Default.aspx) sedan or a RS 4 (http://www.audiusa.com/audi/us/en2/new_cars/Audi_A4/RS_4.html)?

(just wondering why you chose the IS-F instead of one of its competitors)

I originally thought about the m3 but not the RS4 or C63. Also from the reviews I have read and watch seems as though the m3 is not competing well against the IS-F, RS4, and C63. I called up a local lexus dealer to see if they had an IS-F just for kicks and they said they got one in a day ago. I checked it out and the representative said that it was for someone on the waiting list and that he would call if he dropped out. So 2 days later turns out the guy dropped out for the Smokey Granite Mica and was available. I guess I just got lucky and did not have to get on the list so I ended up getting :D

It's an awesome car. Rides amazing and steering is very tight, especially in sport mode. I would much rather have a 6 speed instead of the 8 speed transmission they put in the IS-F. I've also never owned a car with paddle shifters so I have been having tons of fun. I'm at 801 miles at the moment (break in period on manual is 621 but dealers said 1000) So I'm still holding back from completely opening it up until I get to 1000. When that 2nd intake opens around 4k RPMs the car sounds absolutely amazing :)

The car looks amazing. I love the rims, I'm guessing they are a gunmetal finish? When I first saw the car in magazines, I didn't like the bodykit. With the black, it's a much sexier looking car. Blue doesn't due it justice. Congrats and happy motoring! :D

Totally agree. In the US, tire pressure monitoring is required on all cars made after Sept. 1, 2007 (under 10,000 lbs), and I believe that stability control will be mandated sometime in the future....yet as you said there are still brand-new cars on the road today that do not have ABS.

What function does the scoop serve? It looks like your intake is pulling in air from under a shroud way over near the driver side wheel well. Doesn't seem to me like the scoop would be helping anything, other than adding drag, and hurting mileage. It looks nice, don't get me wrong. But, I'm a little lost on what "function" its serving.

I used to own both a MKIII and MKIV Supra, but that was before I bought the Gvr4. Honestly the way I have the Galant right now is better than how I had either of the Toyotas. The Gvr4 is quite quick in a straight line (11.7 on pump) but a BEAST on the track.

Hopefully I can get some decent pics of the rally car up here.

The only "Function it is doing now is engine compartment cooling, I am getting the under hood works soon to force induction, and then it will be functional in the sense of the word.

It's functional as far as its not just for looks like the Shelby GT with the plastic insert, it actually flows air.

The under hood kit I'll be getting routes it to the cold air kit, Just have had a lot of other priorities lately, like the new computer in the sig, and the funds are lacking at the moment.

The only "Function" it is doing now is engine compartment cooling, I am getting the under hood works soon to force induction, and then it will be functional in the sense of the word.
What you will also want then are some extra vents back toward the rear of the hood. Forcing air in, while it might be cooler than the air under the hood already, isn't really helping. You want to get the hot air out, not cooler air in.

Obviously its a much more expensive car, if you look at the Viper, you can see what you need to do. The scoop brings air right in to the intake. But then, back toward the rear of the hood, right above the exhaust manifolds, they have a couple vents to pull heat out. Enough air already makes its way under the hood, its the heat coming out that needs to happen. See also the Mitsubishi Evo, the Aston DBS, and M-Benz SL65, for other examples of this type of venting.

http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/7490/viperit5.jpg

Again, I like the looks of it on your car. But, it will take some work until its REALLY functional. With modern cars, and their tightly managed fuel delivery, and very restrictive intake systems, the "benefit" of hood scoops is slim to none really. Just look how little you see them now. Or, I should say, how little you see them in a functional use. About the only one I can think of right off hand is from Subaru, like Saikou's WRX a few posts earlier. But, they are used to cool the intercooler there, not for intake use.

Well... who remembers my transmission story? (2006 Grand Prix with 36K mile warranty goes kaput at 41K miles). Well, I asked a Chevy dealer (GM) to gimmie a second opinion. Sure enough; I need a complete transmission rebuild. They want $3200. I have ZERO money, being in college, and already trying to make car/insurance/phone/loan payments each month. I tell them I'll just pay the $90 diagnostics fee, and I'll have to figure something else out...

When I go to pick up my car, I learn they tore it apart without me asking!!! So, I gave them a car that could go short distances, and $90 later, they give me a car that will not START, the security system is GONE, there is no power to the seats or windows (but the battery is connected... the radio works), the HUD is completely FUBAR'd, and I can't even enter my trunk as the keyless entry is dead.

I look at my trunk:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2203/2212132613_c59942b427_o.jpg

This is just one of the three boxes in my trunk. Not only did they remove my transmission without my permission, they TORE IT APART!

In addition, they treated me like scum while I was dealing with them. Zero customer service skills. Very rude.

I was pissed! But... it turns out, so was my GF's dad when he heard about it... AND, he's personal friends with the state's Attorney General... He gave the GM dealer HELL from what I hear... and after a month of getting diagnostics, dealing with crappy service, and waiting for it to get fixed, I got my tranny rebuilt for FREE! :D

The dealership, while crappy in the beginning, really came through. And I'm very happy. My car seems to be running smoothly! Although, I now have a slight oil leak... so, I will likely take it back up during spring break to get it checked out. Still, though, I'm satisfied :)

Here it is as I unload stuff at my dorm:

I've heard the beep only once, I think it's when it's pretty much completely redlined I'll have to test that out. Just broke it in so I've been having lots of fun :D and haven't heard any beeps. It rev matches when you downshift and no beep.

Thanks Erik! And I can't wait to see her in person! Sometime once the weather gets nicer. :)

Very nice. :-) Kinda looks like your car is chasing the Crown Vic. lol

By any chance, did you happen to own a Plymouth Breeze before your Concorde or how did you come up with that user name?
Considering I was allowed to drive per police guidelines while on the shoot, I felt like I was in pursuit!

I never owned a Breeze... Just happen to like that car a lot way way back in the 4th grade (I'm now a senior in high school). It's been my e-mail, AIM SN, and most forum usernames ever since.

17" 5Zigen GN+ Pro on Hankook iPike 409. I couldn't sell them so I used them as my Winters. My sister who also has the Coupe/2.5S will be getting them next year. The OEM/17" will be my new Winters and will pick up 18's this Summer.
A few days after we picked them up in October.

My mom loved the Altima coupé! BUT we needed a saloon so we got the 4-door in Precision Gray. It is definitely a wonderful car.

The hatchback has been out for quite a few years and the coupe is the new model. I'm guessing you never got the hatch in the US?

I should have bought one of those, too. I fell in love during the test drive.

I made the "mistake" of driving it first of all the cars I had planned on test driving, and after experiencing the turbo, all the non-turbo cars just seemed plain sluggish. It's been a great car so far. I especially like the simple but elegant interior.

good luck, my boyfriend had a 2006 9-3 sportcombi that just went back at the end of the lease a couple months ago. it was nothing but a huge headache, everything that could have gone wrong did. he has nothing but bad things to say about saabs, and he works for GM!

I've read some of the 9-3 horror stories, seems like they were especially prominent in the 2003 models. I decided I was willing to take the risk. I'll be buying the GMPP extended warranty shortly before 36k, though, just in case.

It's got an upgraded sound system and tinted windows. Wanted to do interior mods first before worrying about the exterior too much but this summer I plan to lift it 3" and put some bigger, more aggressive tires on 'er.

Love my X.

Yeah.. Amazing that the LHS was designed in the mid-late 90s, and yet its curves have not gone out of style. Like wizwaz3 said, the LH line has aged well.
