Are you upgrading to firmware 1.1.2 ?

If so, try following this guide (http://www.hacktheiphone.com/112/iphone_update_112_unlock_mac.html). It's the one I used and I found it to be very clear.

i downgraded to 1.1.1.but do i have to upgrade to 1.1.2 if so how do i do that

Please describe what you want to do in more detail. Do you want to use wifi after the jailbreak, or during the jailbreak ?
