View Full Version : Based on previous updates? How much does the price drop on new models?

Let's say Apple decides to revamp the Mac Pro.

What type of price drop are we talking about for the current line and will apple continue to allow it to be customized on the website?

No to customised on the site (but you could pick from a range of refurbs with different options installed). As for price drop, I've no idea 20%-30% :confused:

I don't see why they wouldn't... there would be LOTS of people angry with Apple if you couldn't.

I think he is asking if the old model will be available to configure. In which case that would be a no.

And the price will drop in the refurb store. Not many people find deals on the previous model other than in the refurb store.

I read that wrong. I agree with you not being able to configure it on their website. Apple will only sell it through the refurb store.

Historically? Eh... I've seen anywhere from $0-$200/300 and I think the reason for the big discount (and I'm talking like 4-5 years ago) was because Apple was falling behind in the Gigahertz war with the G4. At one point they even put out dual G4's across the line with no single CPU model to help make up for the loss of ground they were experiencing.

I think, one time a while back, an update to the line actually cost more. Something like $100 more. Does anyone remember that?

I'm assuming they will pop wireless and bluetooth in at a minimum??
