Which method to use to downgrade to 1.1.1

I was wondering if someone can clarify the 1.1.1. downgrade procedure on the IPT using a Mac PPC with Tiger.

I've discovered 2 different methods for downgrading, listed as follows:

- Download the 1.1.1 firmware

- Connect IPT to iTunes

- Hold the "Option" key and click on "Check for Update" in iTunes

- Locate the 1.1.1 firmware and install

Or

- Put the IPT in restore mode

- Connect to iTunes

- Click on "Restore" while holding down the Option key.

- Locate 1.1.1 firmware and install

Can anyone tell me which method to use, or does it not matter?
