Mac Mail and timestamp

Recently my Mail program stopped putting the time mail was sent and started labeling mail only with

"today"
"yesterday"
or whatever day it was proir to the day before.

I can figure out what I did, unknowingly, that caused it to stop telling me the time that day a mail was sent...

any thoughts?
