i have a mac mini that i dont use alot. i want to make it into a file server but i am not to sure on how to.. I need advice...and what kind of software and what kind of network i should setup..?

I am eager to set this up...

There's not really all that much you need to do. OSX will make it pretty easy for you to share files form it. How is your current network set up? What other machines do you want to connect to this?
 
well i have alot of window home edition machines that i want to connect to it.. thats where i need help is connecting them to my mac:apple::apple:
 
I suppose you've figured it out by now. If your C2D mini is running Leopard, the process is changed just a bit from the tutorial that was linked. It's still in File Sharing, but you'll want to check the options.
