My laptop has airport extreme, and my base station is connected to the cable internet and wired to my iMac.

How can i secure both my airport network, and my powerbook?

I have WEP 128 bit set up on the base station, as well as MAC so that only my computer can use the airport.

What can I do so that my powerbook is protected?

Make sure that your Powerbook and iMac are physically secure using a cable lock or other device. Also there are some measures you can take to improve security such as require a password for login and for the screen saver. You can use encyrpted containers on your HD for protecting data. File Vault in Panther appears to do this but others are available. The WEP standard currently has some weaknesses but is far better than nothing. If security is critical do not use wireless networks or connect to the internet on that system. If you must connect to the internet, a firewall at the connection point provides some minimal protection. Overall, Neither Windows nor Mac are considered truly secure but using some reasonable precautions will protect you from all but the most knowledgeable or dedicated of hackers. There is plenty more that you can do to improve security. Every extra effort you make can improve but not gaurantee security for the system.
