I got a MacBook for Christmas ... it's my first Mac and so far I'm pretty impressed.
But so far I haven't been able to get my Windows Vista PC to just show up in Leopard's Finder so I can use the Public Folder and give my USB stick a break.
I just did a clean install of Leopard and "mike-pc" finally showed up in the sidebar. Everything was working perfectly, but the next time I restarted my MacBook it had vanished again.
I've discovered that I can get to my Vista public folder by typing "smb://mike-pc" into the "Connect to Server" dialog but the only way I can find of making it mount automatically is to add it to my login items.
Obviously this means I have to close a Finder window every time I turn on my MacBook.
Surely there's an easier way - preferably one that isn't a dodgy workaround? After all I'd heard about Macs "just working" I'm quite surprised that something that should be really simple is proving to be such a problem. 😛

EDIT: It's come back now. Any ideas why it's so sporadic?😕
