when i boot into windows xp using bootcamp my mac partition is not there. is there a way to make it appear so windows xp can write files to it or is windows xp incapable of doing this ?

Get Mac Drive, and you'll get access to the mac partition

Windows XP and Vista can not read HFS partitions, only FAT32 and NTFS. To get around this, I use HFSExplorer from here: HFS Explorer Link (http://hem.bredband.net/catacombae/hfsx.html)
The above is free, but Mac Drive is MUCH better.
